l just bought a '95 960 Wagon that has been pampered its entire vehicular life. The care runs and looks like it just rolled off of the factory floor. There is not even any body imperfections! l bought it with 130,000 mi. on it. If l keep it in this excellent care, which l plan to, how long of a life can l expect to get out of it? Thanks!
The car is RWD.

depending on the use of the car ie: hwy: or city the average for that car is 250.000 before other components will inevitably fail

150k, the six cylinder in the 960 is not the longest lasting engine around, four cylinder Volvo is run forever ( l know I've had 4 240's) if you baby it you should get some time out of it. They are known for overheating and having the head warp, oiling problems in the top end (cam, rockers, ect) You need to stay on top of of your oil changes!!! l doubt you will get to 200k.

if u do indeed keep up with all of the necessary services, never let it overheat or break a timing belt & keep it in a weather protected [not too hot or cold] garage, u could conceivably teach ur children to drive in this car even if ur own children r still a few years off.
while l personally like the 4 cylinder ''red engined'' cars the best l have customers who still have their ''well kept'' 960 is in the 350k mileage range although various oil seals have had to be replaced over the years,
the engines r completely quiet & use no oil between 3000 mile changes
NOTE to others: the [95 960 has the all aluminum in-line six white engine similar to the 850's] not the dreaded peugeot, renault, volvo v6 collaboration that was used in the 2 & 7 series cars with other versions showing up in the renault/eagle primier & dodge monoco as well as the below mentioned delorian

l also agree with the others
the V6 is not that great compared to the 4 cylinder volvos
they dont hold up as well
and for the milage if you baby it you may be lucky if you get 200k
dont mean to spoil it 4 u
but the V6 was in the Delorians
dont know if you remember that far back

The car will last as long as you have money in your wallet to keep it going. The repairs will get more expensive and more frequent, but you will want to spend the money because the car still looks good outside. That is the Volvo strategy - give you a car that will hold up its exterior looks and never rust or decay and you will want to keep pouring money into it simply because it does not look like a trash heap.
