It is a 96 automatic non-turbo sedan.l know l will need an alignment (most likely the toe), but l was wondering if it was a job that can be done at home, or should l leave it to the pros on Monday?l already have the part, and nothing to do tomorrow!

buy a manual at the parts store, they can be done in less then an hour on most cars, u need a pickle fork jack and wrenches, lug wrench, it should be easy

r u sure that the old one is bad ?

you gonna have jack up the car & remove the tire
once u have done that then ur half way done.

but just a quick recap, before u jack up the car make sure u break the lugs loose so then it would be faster to take the lugs off once the tire is off the ground.

make sure u count the number of revolutions its gonna take to remove the bad one.

its best to let the pros do it
it is very easy if u know what to do. but if ur not sure u gonna kill the whole day & not get the job done.

If u know what u r doing, u can do it yourself. You have the shop manual & the tools u need eh?

Alignment even is not that challenging to do yourself, the main stuff is to know what toe setting u want, & measure & adjust until u get it, & also make sure that the steering wheel is dead center. it is actually easier getting the toe set correct than to get the steering wheel centered. You can measure toe with a measuring tape, measure gap between front wheels at fronts of wheels & at backs of wheels & then take the difference.

You will need to take off the tire. Once u take off the tire u will need to get under the car to loosen a 21mm (as far as l remember) nut which keeps the outer tie rod attached to the inner tie rod.

Once u do that u will need to use a 13mm (as far as l remember) wrench & make sure the outer tie rod end is not seized/rusted to the inner tie rod. You will move the inner tie rod around to see if both r moving freely.

If both r moving freely u can now use a 18mm (wrench/impact or whatever u have available) to loosen the tie rod end form ur steering knuckle.

Once out have done all of these u can spin the tie rod end off while u count how many turns it took to get it off. To put the new one on as close as possible u spin it back on as many turns as it took to take the old one off.

It will get u close to where the old one was originally. You will still need to get an alignment but it will be close.
