So l bought a used 2004 Volvo S40 and it only came with one key. l wanna have a spare key, but this is not the type that can be easily replicated. l am not sure how to describe it but its sort of like a pocket knife in that you press a button and the key flips out. The key also has buttons to lock/unlock the doors and sound the alarm. So, where do l go to get a spare key and how much should l expect to pay?

you can get one of ebay for a little cheaper. l got one for 50 bucks but l was lucky.. maybe between 75 and 150 not that sure. but then you have to go the dealer for it to be programmed and they might charge you. Sometimes if it the car was bought fro maa volvo dealer you can ask them for another. because it is standard to have two keys when a car is sold.

You are going to have to go to the dealer and have one ordered based on the VIN. They work in conjunction with the anti-theft system and they are about $150. You are supposed to have a valet key so that when you get serviced, the mechanic can not get into your glove compartment.
